Hilton Grand Vacations’ acquisition of Diamond Resorts International was exciting for respective Owners and Team Members for many reasons. However, topping the list is the newly renamed Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions, which kicks off the LPGA season.

The 2022 Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions was the inaugural event kicking off the premier vacation ownership brand’s HGV Ultimate Access program. And if you’ve got questions, you’re not alone.

Here are the answers to frequently asked questions.

What Is The Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions?

Formerly the Diamond Resorts Tournament of Champions, the event will keep its distinctive format. LPGA Tour winners will come together with popular celebrities, athletes and entertainers to play side by side for an unforgettable event benefiting charity.

As one of the most-watched tournaments of the season, spectators have previously cheered on entertainment and sports superstars, including Jerry Rice, Brian Urlacher, Marcus Allen, Justin Verlander, Ray Allen, Grant Hill, Lee Brice, Ben Higgins and Alfonso Ribeiro, and other noteworthy stars.

Qualifying LPGA athletes will compete for $1.5 million in official prize money on 72 holes of stroke with no cut. Celebrities will join them on the course, competing for their own $500,000 purse using a modified format. Finally, qualifying Pro-Am players will compete along with the stars during official tournament rounds.

Beyond the green, Hilton Grand Vacations will host three nights of private outdoor concerts*, themed international food and drink stations, and various best-in-class experiences. Previous concert performers include stars Counting Crows, Jake Owen, Cole Swindell, Lee Brice, Toby Keith and Boyz II Men. Check back in early November as Hilton Grand Vacations announces this year’s lineup of one-of-a-kind experiences.

Where will the event be held?

Nestled in the heart of Lake Nona, a 17-square-mile community in southeast Orlando, is the Tom Fazio-designed Lake Nona Golf & Country Club course — the Tournament of Champions venue.

"We’re thrilled to grow this world-class event and are confident the Tournament of Champions will continue to reach new heights at its extraordinary new home, Lake Nona Golf & Country Club."

— Mark Wang, president and CEO, Hilton Grand Vacations

The breathtaking 18-hole course is known globally and is no stranger to hosting professional and amateur golf tournaments, such as the World Cup of Golf, multiple Tavistock cups, the Southern Amateur and more

When is the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions?

What if I can’t attend? Can I still watch it from home?

Don’t fret if you’re unable to make it to the live event. All four days will be nationally televised, so spectators can watch live to catch all the LPGA action.

Watch rounds 1 and 2 (Thursday and Friday) on Golf Channel and round 3 and the final tournament round (Saturday and Sunday) on Golf Channel and NBC.

How do I meet a celebrity?

While the golf tournament is open to the public, the fun off the green — such as world-class entertainment and once-in-a-lifetime experiences — is reserved for Owners. Owners have an exclusive opportunity to experience the golf tournament as a special guest, and get up close and personal with celebrities and professional athletes. Stay tuned for more information.

What should I wear?

Whether it’s your first golf tournament or you’re a regular fixture on the fairway, attire guides take the guesswork out of event preparation. As a general rule, you’ll want to dress sharp and sensibly.

Most importantly, comfortable footwear is a must. As a spectator, you’ll be walking along the green as the participants play the course.

For women, this may mean a structured sandal, comfortable flats or tennis shoes. If heels are more your style, opt for wedges to easily navigate the grass. As for men, tennis shoes or comfortable loafers are good choices. Just resist the urge to wear your spikes — unless you plan on taking a swing, of course.

Finally, consider sticking to neutral tones that will keep you cool in the sun, and bring along a hat and additional layers. January in Florida can be chilly. However, keep in mind that whatever you bring, you’ll have to carry it throughout the tournament.

What should I bring?

As with any event, it pays to come prepared. So here are good things to bring with you to any professional golf tournament.
